Dr. Dominik HierlemannSenior Expert
Dominik Hierlemann, born in 1976, began working for the Bertelsmann Stiftung in 2004 and is currently in charge of the "Democracy and Participation in Europe" project.
He develops new political participation formats and implements them in cooperation with political institutions. In 2011, he was responsible for the BürgerForum with the German President, 25 cities and 10,000 randomly selected citizens. Together with the Federal Chancellery, he organized citizen dialogues. Today he is working with the European Commission on the further development of EU dialogue and participation procedures.
Dominik studied political and administrative sciences in Constance and Aix-en-Provence. He wrote his dissertation on "Lobbying of the Catholic Church in Poland". He taught at the University of Konstanz, the University of Sydney and the International College of Management, Sydney.
