Since January 1, 2018 Christian Kastrop is Director of the Program Europe’s Future at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, Gütersloh. From March 2014 to the end of December 2017 he was Deputy G20 Representative in the Finance Track and Head of the OECD's Department of Policy Studies in Paris. Prior to that he was Deputy Director General of Fiscal Policy, Macroeconomics and Policy Advice, for the European Economic and Monetary Union as well as for International Affairs, G20 and International Organizations at the German Federal Ministry of Finance, Berlin.
Between 2007 and 2010 he was Vice-President and President of the Economic Policy Committee (EPC) of the Council of European Finance and Economic Ministers (ECOFIN) and the ECOFIN Eurogroup.
Christian Kastrop studied economics, psychology and medieval philosophy at the University of Cologne and Harvard University, Cambridge, USA. He is Professor for Public Finance at the Free University of Berlin, Senior Fellow of the Hertie School of Governance Berlin, Policy Fellow of the Institute of Public Finance at the University of Cologne and member of the Council for Global Problem-Solving (CGP), the intellectual core of the Global Solutions Initiative.
