Hauke Hartmann

Hauke Hartmann is Senior Expert at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, directing the Transformation Index BTI, which analyses and evaluates the status of political and economic transformation and the quality of governance in 137 developing and transition countries. He was Fulbright Scholar at the State University of New York and Fox International Fellow at the Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University. He holds an M.A. in North American Studies (Free University of Berlin) and in Latin American and Caribbean Studies (State University of New York) and received a Ph.D. at the Free University of Berlin for his thesis on US human rights policy under President Carter.
