Etienne Höra is a project manager in the 'Europe's Future' programme at Bertelsmann Stiftung. His focus lies on the EU's trade policy in a geoeconomic age, as well as the consequences of China's increasing assertiveness for the EU. He studied International Affairs in Freiburg, Aix-en-Provence, Berlin and Geneva, with a focus on the political economy of international trade. During his studies, he gained work experience with the European Commission's DG TRADE, the German embassy in Paris and the EU representation of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. From 2020 to 2022, he was a research fellow at the EU-ASEAN Think Tank Dialogue, where he explored future avenues for the two regions' strategic partnership. Currently, he volunteers as president of Polis180, a grassroots think tank which aims to strengthen young voices in European and foreign affairs.
