Teresa Staiger is a political scientist and expert in common-good-oriented AI. She analyses AI developments from a critical societal and international perspective. As a project manager for reframe[Tech] at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, she shaped the project’s strategy on the responsible development and use of generative AI.
She is now working on a study investigating the data foundations of foundation models, exploring how they can be designed to better serve the common good. The study’s findings will be published at the end of March 2025.
Previously, she led the multi-stakeholder project, Tech-Exploration in der Wohlfahrt, a six-week programme aimed at identifying meaningful AI application ideas in the welfare sector.
In the past two years, she has published the German newsletter Erlesenes, a biweekly selection of curated articles, studies and debates on AI and the common good.
Before that, she worked as a policy officer for the Forum Digitalisierung und Engagement project at the Bundesnetzwerk Bürgerschaftliches Engagement.
