Andreas Kern joined the Bertelsmann Stiftung as an intern for the Global Economic Dynamics Team in August 2017. His research focuses on the historical dimensions of economic developments, on the challenges of populism and protectionism for global trade as well as on the emergence of new economic trends due to digitalization.
Andreas accomplished a master’s degree in History at the University of Frankfurt and is currently gaining his doctorate in Ancient History. During his studies, he worked as a student assistant for the Foundation of German Business (SDW), completed an internship at the European Parliament and has been founder and CEO of a social enterprise focusing on the needs of highly gifted children.
