Dr. Erdal Yalcin is Deputy Director of the ifo Center for International Economics; His current research deals with the role of uncertainty for trade policy, with international trade agreements, and with the interaction between outsourcing and firm dynamics. In his fields of expertise he is responsible for trade policy projects at the ifo institute.
Erdal Yalcin holds a doctoral degree in economics from Tübingen University for his thesis on the role of uncertainty in international foreign direct investment decisions of firms. He regularly advises federal ministries in Germany and the European Parliament on trade policy issues. His work has been published in international journals such as Review of International Economics, The World Economy, or Economic Policy. He regularly speaks at major international conferences and teaches at universities.
He did his undergraduate and graduate studies at Tübingen University, Germany, and at the School of Business, Economics and Law at Gothenburg University, Sweden.
