Strong and persistent economic imbalances between regions endanger the cohesion of the EU. The green and digital transition is affecting European regional economies differently depending on their industrial structure and other factors. This will change the landscape of economic prosperity in Europe.

As part of the European Week of Regions and Cities, we will present our new study on the readiness of European regions for the twin transition and the overall implications for EU economic cohesion. The study will then be discussed with:

  • Dr. Katharina Gnath, Senior Project Manager, Bertelsmann Stiftung
  • Dr. Atanas Kolev, Principal Advisor, Economics Department, European Investment Bank
  • Dr. Mark Speich, State Secretary for Federal, European and International Affairs and Media, North Rhine Westphalia, and member of the European Committee of the Regions

Dr. Cinzia Alcidi, Director of Research at the Center for European Policy Studies, will moderate the event.

For those attending in person, a light breakfast with coffee and tea will be provided before the event begins. Entry to the venue will be available from 9:00 am.
