Dear GED followers,

Thank you for joining us on on Tuesday, 6 September 2016 for our successful fourth GED Virtual Roundtable. Under the animation of GED experts Christian Bluth and Ulrich Schoof we had a lively discussion on the implications of a potential free trade agreement between the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union.

In particular we discussed the following questions:

• What would the main economic effects of such a free trade area be?
• How could such a free trade area be used to defuse the present tensions? What would the geopolitical perspective of such an agreement be?
• What would such an agreement mean for the specialization of the Eurasian Economic Union economies? How would they deal with transitory effects?

The interactive session also featured external EU-Russia relations expert Danila Bochkarev of the East-West Institute in Brussels, sharing his valuable insights into this exciting topic.

Thank you for taking part and till the next Time, your GED team.
